The Pantone colors for Spring 2015 is finally unveiled. In the words of Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, the color choices follow the same minimalistic, ‘en plein air
’ theme, taking a cue from nature rather than being reinvented or mechanically manipulated. Soft, cool hues blend with subtle warm tones to create a soothing escape from the everyday hustle and bustle. Many feel compelled to be connected around the clock because we are afraid we’ll miss something important. Therefore, the theme is a result from a growing movement to step out and create ‘quiet zones’ to disconnect from technology and unwind, giving ourselves time to stop and be still.
For spring 2015, the men’s palette takes a surprising turn, deviating from the women’s palette more than what we’ve seen in previous seasons. The menswear colors emphasize the need for uncontrived hues, where natural tones are interspersed with deep, foundational colors for an unassuming and sophistication. There seem to be several colors made a return from the previous seasons though, such as Dusk Blue (Pantone SS’13), Titanium (Pantone FW’12) and Woodbine (Pantone FW’10) – proven that men’s color palette somehow took a step back into bringing the classics. Something that’s lacking in this new scheme is the lack of punchy oranges and yellows, such as Tangerine Tango, Vibrant Orange, Freesia or Sunflower, like what we’re used to in the Pantone Color collection of previous seasons.
Read thru, these are the Top 10 colors for men for spring 2015 and how the choice reflect the mood.
This is perennially a favorite shade for men. Reminiscent of the blue sky above, Dusk Blue is ultimately dependable and faithful. In a world that has become increasingly chaotic, the nostalgic Dusk Blue enables us to retreat into a safe place of quiet blue calm.
More dominant for men than women in Spring/Summer 2015, PANTONE 14-4102 Glacier Gray is an unobtrusive gray that contrasts and enhances; bouncing off other shades without taking away from them as it slips into the background to allow other colors to take center stage. Nature’s most perfect neutral, Glacier Gray, is a shade that is timeless. Quietly assuring and peacefully relaxing, Glacier Gray is above all, constant.
