In today’s edition of Love It or Hate It, its all bout this Comme des Garçons Shirt PVC Bed Sheets Tote. “Shirts” is actually a diffusion line created by CdG’s Rei Kawakubo, with an emphasis on casual wear staples with a deconstructed twist. As its name suggests, its focal point is usually on shirts, but the brand has recently introduced this PVC tote into the mix as well. Now, you’re probably wondering why it’s called the Bed Sheets Tote aren’t you? Well, that’s because the bag is actually made out of panels of bedsheets – exactly 6 panels to be exact. Yep, I kid you not.
Featuring some of the beloved characters and cartoons we all probably grew up with, including Star Wars, Angry Birds, Spiderman, as well as Barbie, the tote has a transparent PVC layer over it, which kind of reminds me of the plastic-wrapped furniture that we saw in The Nanny, or, something closer to home, our very Asian version where remote controls are often preserved in the plastic wrappers they often come with. The only difference right here, is that the tote has COMME des GARĆONS SHIRT printed in white font onto the bag’s front while the interior is lined in fabric.
I don’t know about you, but for me, this bag has el cheapo written all over it. Why someone would even pay USD240 for this (and a lot of people have done so because it’s already sold out in several stores and sites), is certainly baffling.
