Wicker/rattan bags have been trending since 2018, especially those with a circular silhouette. In fact, these bags probably kick-started the current “circle bags” trend, that we’ve been seeing in a whole lot of premium designer brands for Spring/Summer 19 (Watch out for a trend report on all the designer circle bags coming up soon!). Though this trend has been around for quite a while – well, in the context of Planet Fashion anyway – these wicker bags don’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon! Case in point, Jeremy Scott for Moschino, who turned the now iconic Moschino bear, into a wicker shoulder bag for SS19.
Since its introduction, the Moschino Teddy has been a favourite for many, and how clever it was of Scott to turn it into a wicker bag? I mean, why not, considering the character’s rounded head, it’s already the right shape for it to be adapted to a circle bag anyway. This adorable bag comes with leather ears and teddy face details, and fastened with a push lock closure on the back, that’s attached to the leather logo patch behind. This roomy cutie comes with a removable adjustable shoulder strap, so you’d also have the option of clutching it. At 18cm wide, it’s certainly roomy enough for your daily essentials, including your mobile phone. If you’re looking for a bag with a summery vibe, this bag would definitely do it, oh and it’s also rather Coachella-ready too, don’t you think?
Personally, though, the downside to rattan bags is that you have to be really careful of what clothing you pair it with, because they can snag finer fabrics like silk, satin or any other type of floaty fabric combos that you can think of. Oh the other thing I don’t like about rattan bags, is well… the natural smell that comes with it. But, perhaps that’s just me?
If you love the bag, you can get it right here from Luisa Via Roma – they cover all import taxes and duties, so there isn’t any additional cost incurred! How great is that?
