Last year, we caught wind about Pharrell Williams collaborating on a Capsule Collection with Chanel. Given his role as the star in several Chanel ad campaigns, and even walking the runway during Paris Fashion Week, it certainly doesn’t come as a surprise that Pharrell is partnering with Chanel. Unlike the Chanel x Pharrell x Adidas Originals Limited Edition NMD sneaker from 2017, this is his first time designing a Ready-To-Wear collection that also includes handbags.
While the Capsule Collection will only be dropping later this week on March 29, the fashion world spotted Pharrell with a croc (embossed?) tote with Chanel’s leather-interlaced chain straps, the CC logo, and a huge number 5 emblazoned front and centre on it as well as another flap bag, also with the number 5, with all hardware in black like Chanel’s Phantom models. And as for the number 5, we all know that the number 5 is significant to Mademoiselle Chanel’s first ever fragrance for the Maison. Perhaps, this is Pharrell’s way of merging the worlds of Chanel Beauty and Chanel Fashion together into one Capsule.
Now that you’ve had a sneak peek of the Chanel x Pharrell Capsule, what do you think? Personally though, I’m not a fan of that huge white number 5. What about you?
