Donald Trump Jr. Compares Syrian Refugees to Poisoned Skittles…Twitter Goes Insane

via: Sammy Nickalls @ Esquire
Like father, like son: On Monday night, Donald Trump Jr. took to Twitter to comment on the massively complex Syrian refugee crisis with a dehumanizing, vastly oversimplified, and xenophobic image that compares actual, real lives with poisoned Skittles.

"If I had a bowl of Skittles and I told you just three would kill you...Would you take a handful? That's our Syrian refugee problem," the text reads above a bowl of Skittles and the Trump-Pence logo.

"This image says it all," Trump Jr. tweeted. "Let's end the politically correct agenda that doesn't put America first. #trump2016"

Ah, good ol' fear-mongering rhetoric that erases lives under the disguise of patriotism. Ain't America great?

Of course, this isn't the first time Syrian lives have been equated to candy. Late last year, a similar meme equating the situation to 10 poisoned M&Ms out of 10,000 went viral (among racist xenophobes, that is). Shocker: Trump Jr. isn't even original.

Super Bowl 50 Ad Watch: Steven Tyler Revives Classic Tune in Confectionary Crooning Battle for Skittles

Check out how Steven Tyler keeps the dream alive in this Skittles Super Bowl 50 commercial with special guest, Steven Tyler.

Inimitable frontman Steven Tyler is hardly amused by his freshly unveiled, candy-coated collage portrait of himself in a Super Bowl 50 spot—aptly dubbed “Portrait”—edited by John Smith at Whitehouse Post for Skittles.

Working in collaboration with DDB Chicago and production company Biscuit, Smith helps weave a narrative in which robe-clad Tyler engages his exaggerated, grinning likeness in a vocal clash to the tune of Aerosmith’s classic, “Dream On.” The portrait, of course, faces quite the uphill battle in competing with Tyler’s incomparable vocal chops, and together the dueling duet continue the quirky consistency of Skittles campaigns.
