In today’s edition of Toosday Shoesday, we’re featuring a type of shoe that we haven’t really covered before, thus far. Slides have been trending for a while now, but I personally have never been a fan of them because no matter what brand or logo you slap on them, they tend to still look a little too much like shower slippers, el cheapo (if you live in Asia, you’ll probably know what I mean when I say this), utilitarian ala Birkenstocks, or worse still, orthopaedic shoes. Perhaps that’s why we’ve never really talked much about them right here on the site.
But then, everything changed with these Go Logo slides by Valentino. I was a Valentino fangirl for the longest time, but I’ve sort of lost interest in the brand after the Rockstud Spike because I felt that they were trying to hard to achieve that street style vibes. But, after Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli decided to bring back the vintage rectangle-encased “V” logo, for Spring/Summer 19, I started to get back into loving the brand all over again, and I’m not just talking about these slides right here because a few of the bags have caught my eye, and are on my wishlist, too.
Anyway, back to these slides, which are super chic for Summer, which is relaxed enough to wear with shorts and a tee on lazy off-duty days, and would still look good with a pretty dress, or tailored pants. They have another variation with a slightly higher heel height, and also block heel ankle strap sandals, but surprise surprise, I prefer these flat slides because they just add that bit of nonchalance to your outfit, making your outfit super chic, yet not look as if you are trying too hard to look polished.
I have to admit, I’ve been trying to score a pair, but it’s super difficult because it’s always sold out in my size #bigfeetproblems! Personally, I’m loving the dark red, dark green, and tan versions, but they’re also available in black, white, dark brown, metallic gold, and even transparent PVC.
Check out all the colourways below, and let me know which one your favourite is! 😉
